Our Story

Hills Community Church is an independant community church in Mapua,  a village of around 3000 people in the Tasman region.

In the early 1990’s there were three established churches in Mapua: Anglican, Uniting (Presbyterian and Methodist) and New Life, Pentecostal. In 1994 these churches joined together to form one independent church and we are committed to welcoming people from all denominational backgrounds.

Our journey then is one is walking together as followers of Christ.

Jesus prayed for all those who would become his followers 'that they may all be one. As you, Father are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. (John 17:21)

This prayer lies at the heart of who we are as church;  to be together for the sake of Christ and for the sake of our community, so that the world may come to know that Jesus is Lord.
